Reading Notes: Brook. Mahabharata (film) Part F

I still find it interesting that even in the midst of war, the men try to hold on to their ethics. They do not conduct war in a cowardly way and they even try to avoid lying. But the pandavas realize that the only way to defeat Drona is to tell him that his son is dead, which will make him give up his will to fight. In order to try to avoid telling an absolute lie, Bhima killed an elephant named Ashwatthama. They then only had to tell Drona that "Ashwatthama is dead." With Bhishma and Drona dead, the only people left to defeat are Karna and Duryodhana.

I thought the image of Draupadi washing her hair in the blood of Dushasana was also a super powerful image. You can tell by the look on her face that she thinks this is kind of morbid, but she is a woman of her word.

I also thought the fight scene between Bhima and Duryodhana was a crucial scene. This really brought to light a lot of the symbolism of the characters and their interactions.
