Learning Challenge: Perception of Happiness

Image can be found here.

I found this meme really interesting. My generation loveeees the selfie. But why is that exactly? My guess is that it has to do with our happiness, or dissatisfaction with our lives, and how we want these feelings to be perceived by others. Snapchat is huge. Millions of people are constantly snapping and putting up stories every single day. But I can't think of a time where I have seen someone's story and they are expressing how sad/lonely/unappreciated/ignored/left out they feel. You really only see people going to concerts, pulling pranks in classrooms, telling jokes, or selfies of them smiling (which conveys the message that they are happy). We are in complete control over what images we put out onto social media, what we are tagged in, and ultimately how we want others to precise us and the things that we do. But how early is too early to be in charge of you perception by the masses on social media. Really good food for thought.
