Famous Last Words: First Story
This week I finished up reading the 4 parts that make up the PDE Ramayana. What I liked best about this week is that I had a better sense of what was going on, which made reading the episodes a lot easier. This week left me with the idea of wanting a story that revolved around a battle of the gods. This spark lead me to writing my first story about exactly that! On a separate piece of paper, I sketched out a small story map and started writing. I really liked this method. It helped me keep my story on track, but also gave me wiggle room to let my story wander a little bit. I really enjoyed reading other people's story. I think at first I was really focused on trying to create a story too similar to the ones from the reading. But after reading others' stories, I liked how they focused in on a single person or item (like a sandal) and had their story centered on them/it. I want to do something like that for next week! My other classes are going well! I am in three online classes before, so managing my schedule at first was a real struggle for me! But now I think I'm in a better groove. For this class in particular, I like writing my stories when I am sitting outside. I nanny everyday, and he likes to play outside of hours after school. So my friends and I who all nanny kids that go to school together bring blankets to the park and sit out in the sun until they are ready to go home. I think this time being outside and feeling the sun on my face really inspires my writing. It takes away all of the distractions and connects me with the thing my soul craves most.
